HOUSE OF STANK
NYC-based djs, Christy Love and W. Jeremy, collectively known as House of Stank, began in March 2006 with a weekly Wednesday party at Mr. Black, a small underground club in NYC. “STANK,” as the party was aptly named, encompassed a profound dedication and love for house music and the many genres within it. STANK played host to many of house music’s most influential figures, one of them being the legendary Wild Pitch Acid maestro, DJ Pierre. In April 2006, they, along with DJ Pierre, launched a monthly party at STANK, dubbed “AFRO ACID: The Chicago Sessions,” where one Wednesday a month, Chicago jacked New York with such world-renowned guests as Cajmere (a.k.a. Green Velvet), Glenn Underground, Ron Carroll, Mark Grant and Harrison Crump.
In 2007 and 2008, their debut and sophomore tracks, "Baby Brain" and "4 Tha Freaks," were released on DJ Pierre’s label, Afro Acid Digital. In 2008 and 2009, they released, "Make U Jack" and "Get Up, Yeah!" on Dust Traxx Chicago. Both singles had huge success, garnering much attention and interest. House of Stank has remixed such artists as Larry Tee, Easy Street, Thee-O & Merlyn Martin and The 2 Bears.
In the fall of 2010, House of Stank launched their own label, Get Up Recordings. The label has featured releases from such artists as Heller & Farley, Tedd Patterson, Honey Dijon, Up Yours, The Carry Nation, Automagic, Eli Escobar, Hannah Holland, The Cucarachas, Mikey V and House of Stank.
Having been a house music aficionado since his teenage years, W. Jeremy immediately pursued his dream and went to work in the industry right after school. He got his start as an intern at Elite Music Group where he worked along with some of the industry’s finest, including Issy Sanchez and Debra Eriksen. After a few months, Debra convinced him to come and work with her at the Vicious Muzik and Hot n’ Spycy labels. While promoting the chart-toppers, Angel Moraes’s “Welcome to the Factory” and the Shades of Love’s “Keep in Touch (Body to Body)” remake, he formed a friendship with Alan Anderson at Movin’ Records in East Orange, NJ. Alan presented an offer he could not refuse, an opportunity to work for the legendary Tony Humphries and help launch the Yellorange label. Six months later, Jeremy took a short break from the industry and moved to the west coast to re-emerge as a DJ. While in San Francisco, he became a resident dj at the world-famous Endup from 1997-2001 at the Saturday morning party, Otherwhirled. He spent the next several years gigging at clubs all over the Bay Area including, Liquid, Club Six, 111 Minna, 1015 Folsom and 177 Townsend. In 2001 he moved back to New York, and began dj residencies at clubs such as APT, Centro-Fly, Lot 61, Baktun, and Sapphire Lounge.
Christy Love has always had a love for house music. When she moved to San Francisco in 1995, she integrated herself into the city’s massive club scene, and that love of house led her to travel in the same circles as many of the industry’s top deejays. A local deejay believed Christy had such a natural ear for music he gave her two turntables and a mixer so she could become a deejay. She began djing in 1996 at house parties throughout San Francisco, and also co-hosted a weekly Chicago House party at the Haight Street favorite, The Top. In 2000, Christy moved to NYC, where she again immersed herself into the club scene as a dj. In 2005 she picked up a monthly residency Red & Black in Williamsburg, and over the course of the next 5 years, became a major force in NYC’s underground house music scene, djing at such major underground clubs as Santos Party House, Libation, Happy Valley, Sapphire Lounge, Happy Ending and Studio B. In January 2010 she headlined at the new London hot spot, Dalston Superstore.
As djs and producers, House of Stank draw influence from many genres of dance music including Chicago, tech, acid, electro and deep house. Together they have played at some of NYC's favorite spots, such as Sullivan Room, Club Love, Greenhouse, Public Assembly and Rebel, and have had featured dj sets on PUSH FM and Ultra Music Festival Radio. In the summer of 2009, House of Stank, DJ Pierre and Phuture 303 headlined the critically acclaimed PS1 Warm-Up music series, one of the most anticipated summer events.
